We live on the outskirts of our city, but we know that whenever we go into the city we will see several homeless people. It has always made me feel sad to see people lying on the street and not having money for a home or food to eat. One day we decided to do something small to make a difference on one of our trips into the city. My father, sister and I went to the grocery store and bought a variety of foods - fruit, granola bars, juice boxes, etc. and brown paper bags, and prepared snack bags for the homeless. Like we anticipated, we saw many homeless people and because we came prepared we were able to give many of them a snack bag. They were so grateful that we took the time to care because most people seem to ignore them and walk right by. It was not just about the food we gave them, but the time we took to acknowledge them as human beings that I think mattered most. It was special for my family too, because it feels good to care.
